FlipNPik will be among some of the most prominent names in ICOs, blockchain specialisation, and emerging FinTech who will be attending BitConMe in Dubai from 25th June. Here’s what FlipNpik CEO Henri Harland has to say about the event and their current projects.
Holder of an actuarial science degree and an MBA in Finance (University Laval, Quebec City), Henri Harland is the founder of Neptune Technologies & Bioresources. Henri is an expert in finance and public financing, he taught part-time finance for 12 years at HEC Montreal and Universite du Quebec. His career led him to participate in the listing of several companies on the stock market.
His vision and sense of entrepreneurship helped one of his companies to become the first to extract and therapeutically exploit krill oil. Entrepreneur and Senior Executive, he also held important positions (CEO, CFO) in different public companies. He is also special advisor and board member of two international companies: Gobet Rutschi SA and MultiMicroCloud SA.
Henri Harland built his legacy by creating and sharing value. The last companies in which he got involved endorsed a social cause. This is why he is now proud to be the CEO of Fliptech (FlipNpik Worldwide), launching the first collaborative social media for local businesses operating in a blockchain ecosystem.
Give us a 1-minute pitch for what you are doing now.
We are launching the ICO of FlipNpik, which is the first blockchain-based collaborative social media tailored for local businesses. We’ve developed a 360 ecosystem where the value generated is distributed in an equitable and decentralized manner among consumers, businesses and active collaborators. Our mission is to contribute together to the improvement of the local economy and to promote the circuits of local and responsible consumption.
How was the last year, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?
Last year, we tested the FlipNpik application in Montréal with Nadira’s team of FlipNpik North America. The app was tested by more than 1000 merchants and 6000 users who managed to discover new local businesses around them, collect merit points and use them to participate into a lottery game in order to win local products and services.
This worked pretty well, but we wanted to move forward by bringing the blockchain integration and the transaction management. Also, we decided this year to put more gamification in our application with instant promotions.
What are your plans for the future?
We are connecting our 360 Ecosystem on the Stellar blockchain where we will be able to issue FNP tokens and we wish to build additional features such as augmented reality as well as business intelligence to give local businesses an edge on the competition. We are also looking forward to integrating marketplaces for local businesses and customers.
As for the commercialization, we are planning on launching the application in Europe and Asia. Paris, Dublin, London, Geneva have already joined the project and we wish to expand our commercialization to many other cities and conduct strategic partnerships to grow our community.
What will you be talking about at this event?
We will talk about the importance of supporting local businesses which are now struggling, and how technology and blockchain will help turning the tables by giving them the tools they need to succeed. Through creating incentives for local user’s participation, the power can be put back into the hands of local communities.
What inspired you to launch your project?
It is simply by opening our eyes to the state of our neighborhoods that we became aware of the struggle that local businesses are facing. All over the world, we have met small shops that had no choice to close or to deal with a cruel lack of visibility. The solutions presented to enable them to stand out are not accessible to them and the merchants have to face the unfair competition coming from big chains.
Which influencers and websites do you follow to keep up to date with the latest developments?
We are following a lot of news aggregator to get the best stories about finance, local issues and cryptocurrencies. We have an eye on Medium posts where we can find great ideas about marketing and innovative solutions. We look also after the Stellar community on Reddit, and a lot of influencers on Twitter such as Charlie Lee, Naval, but also CryptoCobain, Peter McCormack or Doug Polk…
How can people find out more about what you are working on?

How is your ICO different and why should we participate?
Right at the centre of FlipNpik’s unique business model is our commitment to share value. Our model is built on a collaborative approach where value is equitably shared, making it beneficial to all those that are a part of our global platform with a local focus. Our upcoming ICO gives you a unique chance to be part of FlipNpik right from the outset, whichever stakeholder you represent.
